Joshua 19 - Summary

Original Summary

Read Joshua Chapter 19 Summary

The remaining six tribes receive their allotments by lot at Shiloh: Simeon receives cities within Judah's inheritance because Judah's portion was too large; Zebulun's allotment lies near the Valley of Iphtahel and Bethlehem; Issachar receives the Jezreel Valley region; Asher's territory extends along the coast from Carmel to Sidon. Naphtali inherits the Galilean highlands including the fortified city of Hazor; Dan's portion west of Benjamin proves insufficient, leading them to capture Leshem in the north, renaming it Dan. Finally, Israel gives Joshua the city he requests—Timnath-serah in Ephraim's hill country—completing the division of the land before the LORD at Shiloh.
