Joshua 20 - Summary

Original Summary

Read Joshua Chapter 20 Summary

The LORD instructs Joshua to designate cities of refuge as He spoke through Moses, where one who accidentally kills another may flee from the avenger of blood. The manslayer shall state his case at the city gate and be received; he must remain there until trial before the congregation and until the high priest's death, after which he may return home. Six cities are appointed: Kedesh in Galilee (Naphtali), Shechem (Ephraim), and Kiriath-arba/Hebron (Judah) west of the Jordan; Bezer (Reuben), Ramoth-gilead (Gad), and Golan (Manasseh) east of the Jordan.
