The Tabernacle

After the conquest, the tabernacle was set up at Shiloh for about 300 years. When the Philistines captured the Ark, the tabernacle lost its central significance. David later set up a tent for the Ark in Jerusalem while the tabernacle structure remained at Gibeon. When Solomon built the temple, the tabernacle's furnishings were brought there, and the portable sanctuary was no longer needed.
