Galatians is Paul's passionate defense of the gospel of grace against those who required Gentile believers to follow Jewish law. Paul defends his apostleship, explains justification by faith alone, and describes the freedom believers have in Christ while walking by the Spirit.
Salvation is by faith in Christ alone, not by keeping the law.
Believers are free from the law's curse and bondage.
The Spirit produces fruit that the law could never achieve.
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Union with Christ in death and life.
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
Call to preserve freedom in Christ.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Unlike most of Paul's letters, Galatians was addressed not to a single church but to 'the churches in Galatia'—multiple congregations in the region. Paul had established these churches during his first missionary journey through cities like Antioch, Iconium, Lystra, and Derbe.
Galatians 1:2Galatians is the only Pauline letter with no thanksgiving or commendation for its recipients. Paul immediately confronts them: 'I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting' the gospel, showing his urgent concern over false teaching.
