1 Chronicles 16 - Summary

Original Summary

Read 1 Chronicles Chapter 16 Summary

The ark was placed within the tent David had prepared, and he offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before blessing the people and distributing food to every Israelite. David appointed Levites to minister before the ark with thanksgiving and praise, and the chapter preserves a significant psalm of thanksgiving combining elements later found in Psalms 105, 96, and 106, beginning with 'Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon his name.' The liturgical organization established regular worship before both the ark in Jerusalem under Asaph and the tabernacle at Gibeon under Zadok the priest and Heman and Jeduthun, institutionalizing dual centers of worship until the temple's construction.
