Zechariah

Prophet of Messianic Visions

Old Testament

Zechariah was a post-exilic prophet and priest who ministered alongside Haggai during the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem (520-518 BC). His book is notable for its apocalyptic visions and detailed messianic prophecies. In one night, he received eight symbolic visions concerning Israel's restoration. His later prophecies contain remarkable predictions about the Messiah, including His triumphal entry on a donkey, betrayal for 30 pieces of silver, being pierced, and the shepherd being struck. Many of these were fulfilled during Jesus' final week.

Not by Might

'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the Lord. Zechariah's message to discouraged builders applies to all kingdom work—God accomplishes His purposes through His Spirit, not human strength.
