Up and down arrows move from one verse to the next.

This was the land given by lot to the tribe of the people of Judah, family by family. It reached south to the border of Edom, to the wilderness of Zin, which is the farthest part of the south.

Their southern border began at the shore of the Salt Sea, from the bay that faces south.

It ran out to the south of the ascent of Akrabbim, went on to Zin, and went up on the south side to Kadesh-barnea. It passed by Hezron, went up to Adar, and turned round to Karkaa.

From there it passed on toward Azmon and came out at the river of Egypt. The border ended at the sea. This shall be your southern border.

The eastern border was the Salt Sea, as far as the mouth of the Jordan. The border on the north side began at the bay of the sea at the mouth of the Jordan.

The border went up to Beth-hogla and passed north of Beth-arabah. Then it went up to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben.

The border went up toward Debir from the valley of Achor, and turned north, facing Gilgal, which is opposite the ascent of Adummim, on the south side of the river. Then the border passed on to the waters of En-shemesh, and it ended at En-rogel.

The border went up by the valley of the son of Hinnom to the south side of the Jebusite city, that is, Jerusalem. Then the border went up to the top of the mountain that lies west of the valley of Hinnom, at the northern end of the valley of the giants.

From the top of the hill the border was drawn to the spring of the water of Nephtoah, and came out at the cities of mount Ephron. Then the border was drawn to Baalah, that is, Kirjath-jearim.

The border turned from Baalah westward to mount Seir, passed along the north side of mount Jearim, that is, Chesalon, went down to Beth-shemesh, and passed on to Timnah.

The border came out at the north side of Ekron. Then it was drawn to Shicron, passed along to mount Baalah, and came out at Jabneel. The border ended at the sea.

The western border was the Great Sea and its coast. This was the border all around the people of Judah, family by family.

To Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a share among the people of Judah, as the LORD had commanded Joshua. It was the city of Arba, the father of Anak, that is, Hebron.

Caleb drove out from there the three sons of Anak: Sheshai, Ahiman and Talmai, the children of Anak.

From there he went up against the people living in Debir. The name of Debir before was Kirjath-sepher.

Caleb said, "Whoever attacks Kirjath-sepher and takes it, I will give him my daughter Achsah as his wife."

Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, took it. So Caleb gave him his daughter Achsah as his wife.

When she came to him, she urged him to ask her father for a field. She got down off her donkey, and Caleb said to her, "What do you want?"

She answered, "Give me a blessing. You have given me land in the south; give me springs of water too." So he gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.

This is the inheritance of the tribe of the people of Judah, family by family.
