Joshua 14 - Summary

Original Summary

Read Joshua Chapter 14 Summary

Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite reminds Joshua of Moses' promise forty-five years earlier at Kadesh-barnea, when at age forty he brought back an honest report while his fellow spies made the people's hearts melt with fear. Now eighty-five years old but still as strong as then, Caleb requests the hill country of Hebron where the Anakim dwell in great fortified cities, trusting that if the LORD is with him, he will drive them out as He promised. Joshua blesses Caleb and gives him Hebron as inheritance, because he wholly followed the LORD God of Israel.
