The remnant, from least to greatest, asks Jeremiah to inquire of God where they should go, swearing to obey. After ten days, God answers: stay in this land and I will build you up; do not fear Babylon's king. But if you go to Egypt to escape sword and famine, sword and famine will follow you there, and you shall die in Egypt.
