David gathers thirty thousand chosen men to bring the ark from Baale-judah to Jerusalem; they place it on a new cart driven by Uzzah and Ahio from Abinadab's house. When the oxen stumble, Uzzah steadies the ark and the LORD strikes him dead; David, angry and afraid, leaves the ark at Obed-edom's house three months, where it brings blessing. David brings the ark into Jerusalem with shouting and trumpets, dancing before the LORD with all his might, girded in a linen ephod. Michal despises David in her heart for exposing himself before servant girls; when she rebukes him, David declares he will be even more undignified before the LORD. Michal remains childless to her death.
