Read 2 Samuel Chapter 6

Up and down arrows move from one verse to the next.

Again David gathered together all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand of them.

David set out and went with all the people who were with him from Baale of Judah. They went to bring up from there the ark of God, which is called by the name of the LORD of hosts, who sits between the cherubim.

They set the ark of God on a new cart and brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which was in Gibeah. Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drove the new cart.

They brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which was at Gibeah, going along with the ark of God. Ahio walked in front of the ark.

David and all the house of Israel made music before the LORD on all kinds of instruments made of fir wood, on harps, on lutes, on tambourines, on cornets, and on cymbals.

When they came to Nachon's threshing floor, Uzzah reached out his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it, for the oxen shook it.

The anger of the LORD burned against Uzzah. God struck him down there for his error, and there he died beside the ark of God.

David was upset because the LORD had broken out against Uzzah. He called that place Perezuzzah, and it is called that to this day.

David was afraid of the LORD that day. He said, "How can the ark of the LORD come to me?"

So David would not move the ark of the LORD to himself into the city of David. Instead he took it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite.

The ark of the LORD stayed in the house of Obededom the Gittite for three months. And the LORD blessed Obededom and all his household.

King David was told, "The LORD has blessed the house of Obededom and all that belongs to him, because of the ark of God." So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obededom into the city of David with gladness.

When those who carried the ark of the LORD had gone six paces, he sacrificed oxen and fattened animals.

David danced before the LORD with all his might. He was wearing a linen ephod.

So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting and with the sound of the trumpet.

As the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal, Saul's daughter, looked out through a window. She saw King David leaping and dancing before the LORD, and she despised him in her heart.

They brought in the ark of the LORD and set it in its place, inside the tent that David had put up for it. And David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.

When David had finished offering the burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD of hosts.

He gave out to all the people, to the whole crowd of Israel, to the women as well as the men, a cake of bread to each one, and a good piece of meat, and a jar of wine. Then all the people went away, each one to his house.

Then David went back to bless his household. Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David and said, "How glorious the king of Israel was today! He uncovered himself today in the sight of his servants' slave girls, like one of the worthless men who shamelessly uncovers himself."

David said to Michal, "It was before the LORD, who chose me rather than your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel. So I will make music before the LORD."

"And I will be even more lowly than this, and I will be humble in my own eyes. But by the slave girls you have spoken of, by them I will be held in honour."

So Michal the daughter of Saul had no child to the day of her death.
