The LORD brings a lawsuit against Israel's inhabitants: there is no faithfulness, steadfast love, or knowledge of God in the land, only cursing, lying, murder, stealing, and adultery. The people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; the priests feed on the people's sin, and spirit of whoredom leads them astray to sacrifice on high places. Ephraim is joined to idols—let him alone.
