1 Chronicles 23 - Summary

Original Summary

Read 1 Chronicles Chapter 23 Summary

When David was old and full of days, he made Solomon king and gathered all the leaders of Israel with the priests and Levites, numbering the Levites from thirty years old and upward at 38,000. David organized them into divisions: 24,000 for the work of the temple, 6,000 as officers and judges, 4,000 as gatekeepers, and 4,000 for praising the Lord with instruments. The Levitical families of Gershon, Kohath, and Merari are enumerated with their specific duties, and David lowered the service age to twenty years since the ark would now rest permanently in Jerusalem and the Levites' original transport duties were concluded.
