Joshua 23 - Summary

Long after the LORD has given Israel rest from all surrounding enemies, Joshua, now old and well advanced in years, summons all Israel's elders, heads, judges, and officers, reminding them how the LORD has fought for them and allotted the remaining nations as inheritance. He exhorts them to be very strong to keep all that is written in the Book of Moses' Law, not turning aside right or left, not mixing with these remaining nations, not invoking their gods' names, or intermarrying with them. Warning that if they turn back and cling to these nations' remnant, the LORD will no longer drive them out but they will become snares, traps, whips, and thorns until Israel perishes from this good land.
