All the Nethinims and the descendants of Solomon's servants together were three hundred and ninety-two.

These are the ones who came up from Telmelah, Telharsa, Cherub, Addan, and Immer. But they could not prove which family they came from, or whether they were from Israel:

the descendants of Delaiah, the descendants of Tobiah, and the descendants of Nekoda, six hundred and fifty-two.

Also from the descendants of the priests: the descendants of Habaiah, the descendants of Koz, and the descendants of Barzillai. This man had married one of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and he was called by their name.

These men looked for their names in the family records, but their names were not found there. So they were treated as unclean and were not allowed to serve as priests.

The Tirshatha told them that they must not eat any of the most holy things until a priest stood up with Urim and with Thummim.

The whole group together numbered forty-two thousand three hundred and sixty,

besides their menservants and maidservants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred and thirty-seven. They also had two hundred singing men and singing women.

They had seven hundred and thirty-six horses and two hundred and forty-five mules,

four hundred and thirty-five camels, and six thousand seven hundred and twenty donkeys.

When some of the leaders of the families came to the house of the LORD in Jerusalem, they gave freely for the house of God, so that it could be built again in its place.

They gave as much as they were able to the treasury for the work: sixty-one thousand drams of gold, five thousand pounds of silver, and one hundred garments for the priests.

So the priests, the Levites, some of the people, the singers, the gatekeepers, and the Nethinims settled in their cities, and all Israel lived in their cities.
