2 Chronicles 31 - Summary

Original Summary

Read 2 Chronicles Chapter 31 Summary

After the festival, the Israelites went out and destroyed the pillars, cut down the Asherim, and broke down the high places and altars throughout Judah, Benjamin, Ephraim, and Manasseh until they had finished. Hezekiah appointed the priestly and Levitical divisions according to David's organization and commanded the people of Jerusalem to give the priests' and Levites' portions so they could devote themselves to the law of the Lord. The people responded generously, bringing firstfruits and tithes in such abundance that heaps accumulated from the third to the seventh month; Hezekiah inquired about the piles, learned that since the contributions began there had been enough to eat with plenty left over because the Lord had blessed His people, and appointed overseers to distribute faithfully to every priest and Levite according to their divisions and duties; thus Hezekiah did what was good, right, and faithful before the Lord, seeking God with all his heart, and he prospered.
