Read 2 Chronicles Chapter 31

Up and down arrows move from one verse to the next.

When all this was finished, all the Israelites who were there went out to the cities of Judah. They broke the images in pieces, cut down the groves, and pulled down the high places and the altars in all Judah and Benjamin, and in Ephraim and Manasseh too, until they had destroyed them all. Then all the children of Israel went back, each man to his own property, to their own cities.

Hezekiah set the priests and the Levites in their divisions, each man according to his service. The priests and Levites were to offer burnt offerings and peace offerings, and to serve, and to give thanks, and to praise in the gates of the camp of the LORD.

He also set aside a share from the king's own wealth for the burnt offerings: that is, for the morning and evening burnt offerings, and the burnt offerings for the sabbaths, for the new moons, and for the appointed feasts, as it is written in the law of the LORD.

He also commanded the people who lived in Jerusalem to give the share due to the priests and the Levites, so that they could give themselves fully to the law of the LORD.

As soon as the command went out, the children of Israel brought plenty of the firstfruits of corn, wine, oil and honey, and of all that the fields produced. They brought in a great amount as the tithe of everything.

The people of Israel and Judah who lived in the cities of Judah also brought the tithe of oxen and sheep, and the tithe of the holy things that were set apart for the LORD their God, and they piled them up in heaps.

In the third month they began to make the heaps, and they finished them in the seventh month.

When Hezekiah and the leaders came and saw the heaps, they blessed the LORD and his people Israel.

Then Hezekiah asked the priests and the Levites about the heaps.

Azariah the chief priest, from the house of Zadok, answered him, "Since the people began to bring the offerings into the house of the LORD, we have had enough to eat, and plenty left over. The LORD has blessed his people, and what is left over is this great store."

Then Hezekiah commanded them to prepare storerooms in the house of the LORD, and they prepared them.

They faithfully brought in the offerings, the tithes and the dedicated things. Cononiah the Levite was in charge of them, and Shimei his brother was second to him.

Jehiel, Azaziah, Nahath, Asahel, Jerimoth, Jozabad, Eliel, Ismachiah, Mahath and Benaiah were overseers under Cononiah and Shimei his brother, by the command of King Hezekiah and of Azariah the ruler of the house of God.

Kore son of Imnah the Levite, the gatekeeper on the east side, was in charge of the freewill offerings given to God. He gave out the offerings brought to the LORD and the most holy things.

Under him were Eden, Miniamin, Jeshua, Shemaiah, Amariah and Shecaniah. In the cities of the priests they held this trusted office, giving shares to their brothers by their divisions, to the great as well as to the small.

This was besides the males listed in their family records, from three years old and upward, all who came into the house of the LORD, to give each his daily share for his service in his duties, according to his division.

The priests were listed in the family records by their fathers' houses, and the Levites from twenty years old and upward, by their duties and their divisions.

The family records included all their little ones, their wives, their sons and their daughters, through the whole assembly, for they faithfully kept themselves holy in their trusted office.

For the priests, the sons of Aaron, who lived in the open lands round their cities, men were named in each city to give shares to every male among the priests, and to all the Levites who were listed in the family records.

This is what Hezekiah did throughout all Judah. He did what was good and right and true before the LORD his God.

In every work that he began, in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in the commandments, he sought his God with all his heart, and he prospered.
