2 Chronicles 2 - Summary

Solomon determined to build a temple for the Lord's name and a royal palace, conscripting 70,000 burden-bearers, 80,000 stonecutters, and 3,600 overseers from the resident aliens in Israel. He sent to King Hiram (Huram) of Tyre requesting skilled craftsmen and timber from Lebanon, acknowledging that while no house can contain the God who is greater than all gods, he would build a place for burning incense and presenting offerings. Hiram responded by sending Huram-abi, a master craftsman skilled in gold, silver, bronze, iron, stone, wood, and fabrics, whose mother was from Dan and father from Tyre, and agreed to supply cedar, cypress, and algum timber floated by sea to Joppa.
