John sees a new heaven and new earth, for the first have passed away with no more sea, and the holy city New Jerusalem descends from God as a bride adorned for her husband; a voice declares God's dwelling is with men, He will wipe every tear, and there will be no more death, mourning, crying, or pain. The One on the throne announces He is making all things new, declaring Himself Alpha and Omega, offering the water of life freely to the thirsty while warning that cowards, faithless, detestable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and liars will have their part in the lake of fire. An angel shows John the Bride, the Lamb's wife—the holy city with God's glory, walls of jasper, twelve gates of pearl inscribed with the twelve tribes, twelve foundations bearing the apostles' names, streets of pure gold like transparent glass, its cubic dimensions 12,000 stadia; there is no temple for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple, no sun or moon for God's glory illumines it.
