An angel binds the dragon—that ancient serpent, the Devil, Satan—for a thousand years in the abyss, after which he must be released briefly; those beheaded for their testimony to Jesus and who did not worship the beast reign with Christ a thousand years in the first resurrection, over which the second death has no power. When the thousand years end, Satan is released to deceive nations at earth's four corners—Gog and Magog—gathering them for battle against the saints and the beloved city, but fire from heaven devours them, and the devil is thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur to be tormented forever. Before the great white throne, earth and heaven flee; the dead, great and small, are judged from the books according to their works; Death and Hades are cast into the lake of fire, the second death, along with all not found in the book of life.
