Joshua 8 - Summary

Original Summary

Read Joshua Chapter 8 Summary

With the sin purged, the LORD commands Joshua to attack Ai again with all his fighting men, instructing him to set an ambush behind the city. Joshua sends thirty thousand warriors by night to hide west of Ai, then draws out the defenders with a feigned retreat toward the wilderness while the ambush enters and burns the city. Ai's king is hanged on a tree until evening, then buried under a stone heap; Israel takes the livestock and spoil as the LORD commanded. Joshua builds an altar on Mount Ebal, writes the law's copy on plastered stones, and reads all the blessings and curses before the assembly standing between Gerizim and Ebal.
