Joshua 1 - Summary

Original Summary

Read Joshua Chapter 1 Summary

Following Moses' death, the LORD commissions Joshua son of Nun to lead Israel across the Jordan into the promised land, commanding him to be strong and courageous, for the LORD will be with him wherever he goes. God promises that every place the sole of their foot treads will be theirs, from the wilderness to Lebanon, from the Euphrates to the Great Sea. Joshua commands the officers to prepare the people, and the Reubenites, Gadites, and half-tribe of Manasseh confirm their pledge to cross over armed before their brothers until all receive their inheritance.
