Original Summary

Read Jeremiah Chapter 28 Summary

The prophet Hananiah from Gibeon publicly contradicts Jeremiah, promising that within two years God will break Babylon's yoke and return the exiles and temple vessels. He breaks Jeremiah's yoke-bars. Jeremiah departs; later God sends him back: Hananiah has replaced wooden bars with iron. Hananiah shall die that year for speaking rebellion against the LORD—and he dies within two months.
