Joseph has Jacob embalmed according to Egyptian practice, and a great procession carries him to Canaan for burial in the cave of Machpelah. The brothers fear Joseph will now take revenge, but he reassures them that what they meant for evil, God meant for good to save many lives. Joseph lives to see his great-grandchildren, and before dying at 110, he makes Israel swear to carry his bones to the promised land when God visits them.
