2 Chronicles 14 - Summary

Asa succeeded Abijah and did what was good and right before the Lord, removing foreign altars, high places, pillars, and Asherim, commanding Judah to seek the Lord and keep His commandments. During ten years of peace, Asa built fortified cities and assembled an army of 300,000 from Judah with large shields and spears and 280,000 from Benjamin with shields and bows. When Zerah the Ethiopian attacked with a million troops and three hundred chariots, Asa cried to the Lord declaring dependence on Him alone rather than human numbers, and the Lord struck the Ethiopians before Judah, who pursued them to Gerar and plundered all the surrounding cities, taking enormous spoil of livestock.
