The parable of the wedding feast depicts the kingdom as a royal banquet to which the initially invited refuse to come, resulting in the destruction of their city and the gathering of others from the highways, though one without a wedding garment is cast into outer darkness. Pharisees, Herodians, and Sadducees pose test questions about paying tribute to Caesar, the resurrection, and the greatest commandment, with Jesus masterfully answering each and concluding with His own question about David's Lord that silences all further challenges. The tribute answer establishes the principle of rendering to Caesar and to God their respective dues, while the double love command—loving God wholly and neighbor as self—summarizes the Law and Prophets.
