Isaiah 17 - Summary

Original Summary

Read Isaiah Chapter 17 Summary

The oracle concerning Damascus declares it will cease being a city and become a ruinous heap. Israel's glory will become lean, like an olive tree shaken with few olives remaining. In that day mankind will regard their Maker rather than their altars and idols, but the harvest will be grief because they forgot the God of their salvation.

The Longest Prophetic Book

Isaiah contains 66 chapters, making it the longest of the prophetic books. Often called 'the fifth Gospel,' it includes more messianic prophecies than any other Old Testament book, vividly describing Christ's suffering in chapter 53 some 700 years before His birth.
