Now these are the names of the tribes. From the north end, along the way of Hethlon, as you go to Hamath, to Hazarenan, the border of Damascus northward, beside Hamath; these are his sides east and west: one portion for Dan.
Next to the border of Judah, from the east side to the west side, shall be the offering that you shall set apart. It shall be twenty-five thousand reeds wide, and as long as one of the other parts, from the east side to the west side. The sanctuary shall be in the middle of it.
The offering that you shall set apart for the LORD shall be twenty-five thousand long and ten thousand wide.
This holy offering shall be for them, for the priests: on the north twenty-five thousand long, on the west ten thousand wide, on the east ten thousand wide, and on the south twenty-five thousand long. The sanctuary of the LORD shall be in the middle of it.
It shall be for the priests who are made holy, the sons of Zadok. They kept my charge, and did not go astray when the children of Israel went astray, as the Levites went astray.
This offering from the land shall be for them a most holy thing, beside the border of the Levites.
Across from the border of the priests, the Levites shall have a part twenty-five thousand long and ten thousand wide. The whole length shall be twenty-five thousand, and the width ten thousand.
They shall not sell any of it, or trade it, or give away the firstfruits of the land, for it is holy to the LORD.
The five thousand that are left in the width, beside the twenty-five thousand, shall be common ground for the city, for homes and for open land. The city shall be in the middle of it.
These shall be its measurements: the north side four thousand five hundred, the south side four thousand five hundred, the east side four thousand five hundred, and the west side four thousand five hundred.
The open land of the city shall be two hundred and fifty on the north, two hundred and fifty on the south, two hundred and fifty on the east, and two hundred and fifty on the west.
What is left over in length, beside the holy offering, shall be ten thousand to the east and ten thousand to the west. It shall be beside the holy offering, and what it produces shall be food for those who work in the city.
Those who work in the city shall come from all the tribes of Israel to serve it.
The whole offering shall be twenty-five thousand by twenty-five thousand. You shall set apart the holy offering as a square, together with the land of the city.
What is left over shall be for the prince, on both sides of the holy offering and of the land of the city. It shall run beside the twenty-five thousand of the offering toward the east border, and westward beside the twenty-five thousand toward the west border, matching the portions for the prince. It shall be the holy offering, and the sanctuary of the house shall be in the middle of it.
So the land of the Levites and the land of the city shall lie in the middle of what belongs to the prince. Everything between the border of Judah and the border of Benjamin shall be for the prince.
As for the rest of the tribes: from the east side to the west side, Benjamin shall have one portion.
Next to the border of Benjamin, from the east side to the west side, Simeon shall have one portion.
Next to the border of Gad, on the south side southward, the border shall run from Tamar to the waters of strife in Kadesh, and to the river that goes to the great sea.
This is the land which you shall divide by lot among the tribes of Israel as their inheritance, and these are their portions, says the Lord GOD.
These are the ways out of the city. On the north side, four thousand five hundred measures.
The gates of the city shall be named after the tribes of Israel. Three gates face north: one gate of Reuben, one gate of Judah, one gate of Levi.
On the east side, four thousand five hundred, with three gates: one gate of Joseph, one gate of Benjamin, one gate of Dan.
On the south side, four thousand five hundred measures, with three gates: one gate of Simeon, one gate of Issachar, one gate of Zebulun.
On the west side, four thousand five hundred, with their three gates: one gate of Gad, one gate of Asher, one gate of Naphtali.
All the way around it was eighteen thousand measures. And from that day the name of the city shall be, The LORD is there.
