2 Kings 6 - Summary

The sons of the prophets need larger quarters and begin cutting timber at the Jordan; a borrowed axe head falls into the water. Elisha makes it float with a thrown stick. When Syria wars against Israel, Elisha warns the king repeatedly of ambush locations; the Syrian king suspects a spy until told Elisha knows even bedroom conversations. Syrian forces surround Dothan to capture Elisha; his servant panics, but Elisha prays and he sees hills full of fiery horses and chariots. Elisha strikes the Syrians blind, leads them to Samaria, then prays their eyes open before Israel's king. Instead of killing them, they feast them and release them; the raids cease. Later, Ben-hadad besieges Samaria until famine is so severe that a donkey's head sells for eighty shekels and two women agree to eat their sons. The king blames Elisha and sends to kill him.
