2 Chronicles 27 - Summary

Original Summary

Read 2 Chronicles Chapter 27 Summary

Jotham was twenty-five years old when he became king and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem, doing right in the Lord's sight according to all that his father Uzziah had done, except he did not enter the temple (learning from his father's error), though the people continued in corrupt practices. He built the upper gate of the temple, did extensive construction on the wall of Ophel, built cities in the hill country of Judah, and constructed fortresses and towers in the forests. Jotham subdued the Ammonites who paid him tribute of 100 talents of silver, 10,000 cors of wheat, and 10,000 cors of barley for three years, and he became mighty because he ordered his ways before the Lord his God; the chapter briefly notes his death and burial in the city of David, with his son Ahaz succeeding him.
