1 Samuel 2 - Summary

Original Summary

Read 1 Samuel Chapter 2 Summary

Hannah's prophetic prayer exalts the LORD who kills and brings to life, makes poor and rich, guards His saints while the wicked perish in darkness, and will judge the earth's ends while giving strength to His king and anointed. Eli's sons Hophni and Phinehas are worthless men who despise the LORD's offerings, taking meat before the fat is burned and sleeping with women who serve at the tent's entrance. A man of God prophesies against Eli's house: both sons will die on the same day, and God will raise a faithful priest; meanwhile, young Samuel grows in favor with the LORD and with people.
