1 Kings 21 - Summary

Original Summary

Read 1 Kings Chapter 21 Summary

Ahab desires Naboth's vineyard adjoining the palace in Jezreel, but Naboth refuses to sell his ancestral inheritance. Ahab sulks; Jezebel arranges a false trial with worthless men accusing Naboth of cursing God and king, and Naboth is stoned to death. When Ahab takes possession, Elijah meets him with the LORD's word: where dogs licked Naboth's blood, they will lick Ahab's; the LORD will bring disaster on his house, cutting off every male, making it like Jeroboam's and Baasha's; dogs will eat Jezebel by Jezreel's wall. When Ahab humbles himself in sackcloth and fasting, the LORD tells Elijah the disaster will come not in Ahab's days but in his son's.
