These were the divisions of the gatekeepers. From the Korhites: Meshelemiah the son of Kore, of the sons of Asaph.
The sons of Meshelemiah were Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth,
Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, Elioenai the seventh.
The sons of Obededom were Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sacar the fourth, Nethaneel the fifth,
Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peulthai the eighth, for God blessed him.
Sons were also born to his son Shemaiah, and they ruled in their father's house, for they were mighty men of valour.
The sons of Shemaiah were Othni, Rephael, Obed and Elzabad. His brothers Elihu and Semachiah were strong men.
All these were of the sons of Obededom. They, their sons and their brothers were able men, strong for the service. There were sixty-two of Obededom.
Meshelemiah had sons and brothers, strong men, eighteen in all.
Hosah, of the sons of Merari, also had sons. Simri was the chief (though he was not the firstborn, his father made him the chief),
Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth. All the sons and brothers of Hosah were thirteen.
These were the divisions of the gatekeepers, among the chief men, with posts facing one another, to serve in the house of the LORD.
They cast lots for every gate, the small as well as the great, family by family.
The lot for the east gate fell to Shelemiah. Then they cast lots for his son Zechariah, a wise counsellor, and his lot came out for the north.
Obededom's lot was for the south, and his sons were given the house of Asuppim.
The lot for Shuppim and Hosah came out for the west, with the gate Shallecheth, by the road that goes up, post facing post.
On the east there were six Levites, on the north four a day, on the south four a day, and at Asuppim two and two.
At Parbar on the west there were four at the road, and two at Parbar.
These are the divisions of the gatekeepers among the sons of Kore and among the sons of Merari.
Of the Levites, Ahijah was over the treasures of the house of God and over the treasures of the dedicated things.
As for the sons of Laadan, the sons of Laadan the Gershonite, the heads of families of Laadan the Gershonite, were the Jehieli.
The sons of Jehieli were Zetham and Joel his brother. They were over the treasures of the house of the LORD.
Of the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites and the Uzzielites:
Shebuel the son of Gershom, the son of Moses, was ruler over the treasures.
His relatives through Eliezer were Rehabiah his son, Jeshaiah his son, Joram his son, Zichri his son, and Shelomith his son.
This Shelomith and his brothers were over all the treasures of the dedicated things, which King David, the heads of families, the captains over thousands and hundreds, and the captains of the army had dedicated.
They dedicated some of the goods taken in battles, to keep up the house of the LORD.
Everything that Samuel the seer, Saul the son of Kish, Abner the son of Ner, and Joab the son of Zeruiah had dedicated, and whatever anyone else had dedicated, was in the care of Shelomith and his brothers.
Of the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons were given the outside work over Israel, as officers and judges.
Of the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his brothers, men of valour, one thousand seven hundred of them, were officers over Israel on this side of the Jordan, on the west, in all the work of the LORD and in the service of the king.
