Proverbs 1 - Summary

Original Summary

Read Proverbs Chapter 1 Summary

The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel, are given to know wisdom and instruction, understand words of insight, receive instruction in wise dealing, righteousness, justice, and equity. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction. Solomon warns his son against the enticement of sinners who propose ambush for plunder; their schemes are self-destructive snares. Wisdom cries aloud in public places, warning that those who refuse her call will eat the fruit of their own way, but those who listen will dwell secure.
