When the sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought sweet spices, so that they could come and anoint him.
Very early in the morning, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb as the sun was rising.
They said to one another, "Who will roll the stone away from the door of the tomb for us?"
But when they looked, they saw that the stone had been rolled away, and it was very large.
They went into the tomb, and they saw a young man sitting on the right side, wearing a long white robe. They were terrified.
He said to them, "Do not be afraid. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen. He is not here. Look at the place where they laid him."
"But go, and tell his disciples and Peter that he is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you."
They went out quickly and ran away from the tomb, for they were trembling and amazed. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid.
Now when Jesus had risen early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had driven seven devils.
She went and told those who had been with him, while they were mourning and weeping.
But when they heard that he was alive, and that she had seen him, they did not believe it.
After that he appeared in a different form to two of them, as they were walking out into the country.
They went and told the rest, but they did not believe them either.
Later he appeared to the eleven as they sat at food. He rebuked them for their unbelief and their hard hearts, because they had not believed those who saw him after he had risen.
He said to them, "Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."
"Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned."
"And these signs will go with those who believe. In my name they will drive out devils. They will speak with new tongues."
"They will pick up snakes, and if they drink anything deadly, it will not harm them. They will lay their hands on the sick, and the sick will get well."
So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven, and sat at the right hand of God.
And they went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them, confirming the word by the signs that followed. Amen.
