Lamentations 2 - Summary

The LORD Himself appears as enemy, swallowing up Israel without pity, throwing down strongholds, violently taking away His tabernacle, and causing solemn feasts to be forgotten in Zion. The gates have sunk into the ground, prophets find no vision from the LORD, elders sit silently in dust, and children faint for hunger in the streets while asking their mothers for bread. The poet's eyes fail with tears as he witnesses mothers eating their own children during the siege, while enemies clap hands over Jerusalem's fall and the LORD has accomplished what He decreed—the day He called has come.
