John 17 - Summary

Original Summary

Read John Chapter 17 Summary

Jesus' high priestly prayer begins with His request that the Father glorify Him so that He might glorify the Father, having accomplished the work given Him and manifested the Father's name to those given Him from the world. He prays not for the world but for those the Father gave Him, asking that they be kept in the Father's name, protected from the evil one, sanctified in truth, and made one as He and the Father are one so that the world may believe. The prayer extends to all future believers, asking that they also may be one and behold His glory, with Jesus declaring that He has made known the Father's name and will continue to make it known so that the love with which the Father loved Him may be in them.
