John 15 - Summary

Original Summary

Read John Chapter 15 Summary

The vine and branches metaphor teaches that Jesus is the true vine, the Father the vinedresser, and disciples the branches who must abide in Him to bear fruit, for apart from Him they can do nothing. Jesus commands His friends—no longer servants—to love one another as He has loved them, with no greater love than laying down one's life. The world's hatred of disciples follows from its prior hatred of Jesus who chose them out of the world, and the Spirit of truth proceeding from the Father will witness concerning Jesus just as the disciples who have been with Him from the beginning will witness.
