Original Summary

Read Isaiah Chapter 42 Summary

God presents His Servant, chosen and anointed with His Spirit, who will bring justice to the nations gently without breaking bruised reeds. God calls Israel to be a covenant for people and light to Gentiles, opening blind eyes and freeing prisoners. God sings a new song and will now cry out like a woman in labor, going forth as a warrior.

The Longest Prophetic Book

Isaiah contains 66 chapters, making it the longest of the prophetic books. Often called 'the fifth Gospel,' it includes more messianic prophecies than any other Old Testament book, vividly describing Christ's suffering in chapter 53 some 700 years before His birth.
