Then Joseph could not hold himself back in front of all those who stood by him. He cried out, "Send everyone away from me." So no one stayed with him while Joseph made himself known to his brothers.
And he wept aloud. The Egyptians heard him, and the household of Pharaoh heard it too.
Joseph said to his brothers, "I am Joseph. Is my father still alive?" But his brothers could not answer him, for they were terrified at his presence.
Joseph said to his brothers, "Come near to me, I ask you." And they came near. He said, "I am Joseph your brother, whom you sold into Egypt."
Now do not be grieved, and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here. God sent me ahead of you to keep people alive.
For two years now the famine has been in the land. And there are still five years in which there will be no ploughing and no harvest.
God sent me ahead of you to keep you alive on the earth as a people who live on, and to save your lives by a great rescue.
So it was not you who sent me here, but God. He has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and ruler over all the land of Egypt.
"Hurry, and go up to my father, and say to him, 'This is what your son Joseph says: God has made me lord of all Egypt. Come down to me. Do not wait."
"'You will live in the land of Goshen, and you will be near me, you and your children and your children's children, and your flocks and your herds and all that you have."
"'There I will provide for you, for there are still five years of famine. If not, you and your household and all that you have will come to poverty.'"
"Look, your own eyes see, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin see, that it is my mouth that is speaking to you."
"You must tell my father about all my glory in Egypt, and about all that you have seen. And you must hurry and bring my father down here."
Then he threw his arms around his brother Benjamin's neck and wept, and Benjamin wept on his neck.
He kissed all his brothers and wept over them. After that his brothers talked with him.
The news of it was heard in Pharaoh's house. They said, "Joseph's brothers have come." This pleased Pharaoh well, and his servants too.
Pharaoh said to Joseph, "Say to your brothers, 'Do this: load your animals and go to the land of Canaan."
"'Take your father and your households and come to me. I will give you the best of the land of Egypt, and you will eat the fat of the land.'"
"Now you are commanded: do this. Take wagons out of the land of Egypt for your little ones and for your wives, and bring your father, and come."
"Also do not worry about your goods, for the best of all the land of Egypt is yours."
The children of Israel did so. Joseph gave them wagons, as Pharaoh had commanded, and he gave them food for the journey.
To each of them he gave changes of clothing. But to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver and five changes of clothing.
And to his father he sent this: ten donkeys loaded with the good things of Egypt, and ten female donkeys loaded with grain and bread and food for his father for the journey.
So he sent his brothers away, and they left. He said to them, "See that you do not quarrel on the way."
They told him, "Joseph is still alive, and he is governor over all the land of Egypt." And Jacob's heart went faint, for he did not believe them.
Then they told him all the words of Joseph, which he had said to them. And when he saw the wagons Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father came alive again.
And Israel said, "It is enough. Joseph my son is still alive. I will go and see him before I die."
