In the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, on the first day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me. He said:
"Son of man, sing a song of sorrow for Pharaoh king of Egypt. Say to him, 'You are like a young lion among the nations. You are like a whale in the seas. You burst out with your rivers. You stirred up the waters with your feet, and made their rivers dirty.'"
This is what the Lord GOD says: "So I will spread out my net over you, with a great crowd of people, and they will pull you up in my net."
Then I will leave you on the land. I will throw you out on the open field. I will make all the birds of the sky settle on you, and I will fill the wild animals of the whole earth with you.
I will lay your flesh on the mountains, and fill the valleys with your great body.
I will also water the land with your blood, even as far as the mountains, where you swim. The river beds will be full of you.
When I put out your light, I will cover the sky and make its stars dark. I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon will not give its light.
"All the bright lights of the sky I will make dark over you. I will bring darkness on your land," says the Lord GOD.
"I will also trouble the hearts of many peoples, when I carry news of your ruin among the nations, into countries you have not known."
"Yes, I will make many peoples horrified at you. Their kings will be terribly afraid because of you, when I swing my sword in front of them. Every moment they will tremble, each man for his own life, on the day you fall."
For this is what the Lord GOD says: "The sword of the king of Babylon will come upon you."
By the swords of the mighty I will make your crowds of people fall. They are the cruellest of the nations, every one of them. They will destroy the pride of Egypt, and all her crowds will be wiped out.
I will also destroy all her animals from beside the great waters. No human foot will stir the waters any more, and no hoof of any animal will stir them.
"Then I will make their waters clear, and make their rivers run like oil," says the Lord GOD.
"When I make the land of Egypt empty, when the country is stripped of everything that filled it, when I strike down all who live in it, then they will know that I am the LORD."
"This is the song of sorrow they will sing for her. The daughters of the nations will sing it for her. They will sing it for Egypt and for all her crowds of people," says the Lord GOD.
In the twelfth year, on the fifteenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me. He said:
"Son of man, cry out for the crowds of Egypt. Send them down, her and the daughters of the famous nations, to the lowest parts of the earth, with those who go down into the pit."
Whom do you surpass in beauty? Go down, and be laid with those who are not circumcised.
They will fall among those killed by the sword. She is handed over to the sword. Drag her away with all her crowds of people.
The strong ones among the mighty will speak to him out of the middle of the grave, along with those who helped him. 'They have gone down. They lie there, not circumcised, killed by the sword.'
Asshur is there with all her company. His graves are all around him. All of them are killed, fallen by the sword.
Their graves are set in the far parts of the pit, and her company is all around her grave. All of them are killed, fallen by the sword, though once they spread terror in the land of the living.
Elam is there with all her crowds around her grave. All of them are killed, fallen by the sword. They went down, not circumcised, to the lowest parts of the earth. Once they spread their terror in the land of the living, but now they carry their shame with those who go down to the pit.
They have made a bed for her among the killed, with all her crowds of people. Her graves are all around him. All of them are not circumcised, killed by the sword. Once their terror was spread in the land of the living, but now they carry their shame with those who go down to the pit. He is laid among those who are killed.
Meshech and Tubal are there with all her crowds. Her graves are all around him. All of them are not circumcised, killed by the sword, though they spread their terror in the land of the living.
They will not lie with the mighty men who fell among those not circumcised, who went down to the grave with their weapons of war. Their swords were laid under their heads, but their sins are on their bones, though they were the terror of the mighty in the land of the living.
Yes, you will be broken among those who are not circumcised, and you will lie with those killed by the sword.
Edom is there, her kings and all her princes. For all their might they are laid with those killed by the sword. They lie with those who are not circumcised, and with those who go down to the pit.
The princes of the north are there, all of them, and all the Zidonians, who went down with the killed. For all the terror they caused, they are ashamed of their might. They lie there, not circumcised, with those killed by the sword, and carry their shame with those who go down to the pit.
"Pharaoh will see them, and will be comforted over all his crowds of people, Pharaoh and all his army, killed by the sword," says the Lord GOD.
"For I have spread my terror in the land of the living. He will be laid among those who are not circumcised, with those killed by the sword, Pharaoh and all his crowds of people," says the Lord GOD.
