The word of the LORD came to me again. He said,

"Now, son of man, sing a song of sorrow for Tyrus."

"Say to Tyrus, you who sit at the entrance of the sea, you who trade with the peoples of many coastlands: this is what the Lord GOD says: O Tyrus, you have said, 'I am perfect in beauty.'"

"Your borders are in the middle of the seas. Your builders made your beauty perfect."

"They made all your ship boards of fir trees from Senir. They took cedars from Lebanon to make masts for you."

"They made your oars from the oaks of Bashan. The company of the Ashurites made your benches of ivory, brought from the coasts of Chittim."

"Your sail was fine linen with embroidered work from Egypt, spread out for all to see. Blue and purple cloth from the coasts of Elishah covered you."

"The people of Zidon and Arvad were your sailors. Your wise men, O Tyrus, who were in you, were your pilots."

"The elders of Gebal and their wise men were in you, sealing the seams of your ships. All the ships of the sea and their sailors were in you to trade your goods."

"Men of Persia and of Lud and of Phut were in your army, your men of war. They hung up the shield and the helmet in you. They made you beautiful."

"The men of Arvad and your army were on your walls all around, and the Gammadims were in your towers. They hung their shields on your walls all around. They made your beauty perfect."

"Tarshish traded with you because you had riches of every kind. They brought silver, iron, tin and lead to your markets."

"Javan, Tubal and Meshech traded with you. They traded human beings and vessels of brass in your market."

"The men of the house of Togarmah traded in your markets with horses and war horses and mules."

"The men of Dedan traded with you. Many coastlands bought the goods of your hand. They brought you horns of ivory and ebony as payment."

"Syria traded with you because you made so many goods. They came to your markets with emeralds, purple cloth, embroidered work, fine linen, coral and agate."

"Judah and the land of Israel traded with you. They traded in your market wheat of Minnith, and Pannag, and honey, and oil, and balm."

"Damascus traded with you because you made so many goods and had riches of every kind. They brought the wine of Helbon and white wool."

"Dan also and Javan, going back and forth, traded in your markets. Bright iron, cassia and calamus were in your market."

"Dedan traded with you in fine cloth for chariots."

"Arabia and all the princes of Kedar traded with you in lambs, rams and goats. In these things they were your merchants."

"The merchants of Sheba and Raamah traded with you. They came to your markets with the best of all spices, and with all kinds of precious stones, and gold."

"Haran, and Canneh, and Eden, the merchants of Sheba, Asshur and Chilmad traded with you."

"These traded with you in all sorts of things: in blue cloth, in embroidered work, and in chests of rich clothing bound with cords and made of cedar, among your goods."

"The ships of Tarshish sang of you in your market. You were filled full and made very glorious in the middle of the seas."

"Your rowers have brought you out into deep waters. The east wind has broken you in the middle of the seas."

"Your riches, your markets, your goods, your sailors and your pilots, the men who sealed your seams, those who traded your goods, and all your men of war who are in you, with all the crowd that is in the middle of you, will fall into the middle of the seas on the day of your ruin."

"The lands around will shake at the sound of the cry of your pilots."

"All who handle the oar, the sailors and all the pilots of the sea, will come down from their ships. They will stand on the land."

"They will let their voice be heard against you. They will cry bitterly. They will throw dust on their heads and roll themselves in the ashes."

"They will shave their heads completely bald for you and put on sackcloth. They will weep for you with bitter hearts and bitter wailing."

"As they wail they will sing a song of sorrow for you, and mourn over you, saying, 'What city is like Tyrus, like the one destroyed in the middle of the sea?'"

"When your goods went out from the seas, you satisfied many peoples. With your great riches and your goods you made the kings of the earth rich."

"Now you are broken by the seas in the deep waters. Your goods and all the crowd in the middle of you have fallen."

"All the people of the coastlands are shocked at you. Their kings are terrified, and fear shows in their faces."

"The merchants among the peoples hiss at you. You have become a terror, and you will never be again."
