Read Ezekiel Chapter 28

Up and down arrows move from one verse to the next.

The word of the LORD came to me again. He said:

"Son of man, say to the prince of Tyrus, This is what the Lord GOD says: Your heart is proud, and you have said, 'I am a God. I sit in the seat of God, in the middle of the seas.' Yet you are a man, and not God, though you make your heart like the heart of God."

"Look, you are wiser than Daniel. There is no secret that they can hide from you."

"With your wisdom and your understanding you have made yourself rich. You have gathered gold and silver into your treasure rooms."

"By your great wisdom and your trading you have increased your riches, and your heart is proud because of your riches."

"So this is what the Lord GOD says: Because you have made your heart like the heart of God,"

"look, I will bring strangers against you, the most terrifying of the nations. They will draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom, and they will spoil your brightness."

"They will bring you down to the pit, and you will die the deaths of those who are killed in the middle of the seas."

"Will you still say to the one who kills you, 'I am God'? You will be a man, and no God, in the hand of the one who kills you."

"You will die the deaths of those who are not circumcised, by the hand of strangers. For I have spoken it, says the Lord GOD."

Again the word of the LORD came to me. He said:

"Son of man, sing a song of mourning for the king of Tyrus. Say to him, This is what the Lord GOD says: You are the seal of what is complete, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty."

"You have been in Eden, the garden of God. Every precious stone covered you: the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold. The workmanship of your small drums and of your pipes was made ready in you on the day you were created."

"You are the anointed cherub that covers, and I set you there. You were on the holy mountain of God. You walked up and down among the stones of fire."

"You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, until wrongdoing was found in you."

"Because your trade was so great, they filled you with violence, and you sinned. So I will throw you out of the mountain of God as an unholy thing. I will destroy you, covering cherub, from among the stones of fire."

"Your heart was proud because of your beauty. You ruined your wisdom because of your brightness. I will throw you to the ground. I will lay you before kings, so that they may look at you."

"You have made your holy places unclean by your many wrongdoings, by the wrongdoing of your trading. So I will bring out a fire from inside you. It will burn you up, and I will bring you to ashes on the earth, in the sight of all who look at you."

"All who know you among the peoples will be shocked at you. You will be a terror, and you will never exist again."

Again the word of the LORD came to me. He said:

"Son of man, turn your face against Zidon, and prophesy against it."

"Say, This is what the Lord GOD says: Look, I am against you, Zidon, and I will be given glory among you. They will know that I am the LORD, when I have carried out my judgments in her, and am shown to be holy in her."

"For I will send disease into her, and blood into her streets. The wounded will be judged in the middle of her by the sword that comes against her on every side. And they will know that I am the LORD."

"And there will no longer be a sharp brier to hurt the house of Israel, nor any painful thorn among all those around them who hated them. And they will know that I am the Lord GOD."

"This is what the Lord GOD says: When I have gathered the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they are scattered, and am shown to be holy in them in the sight of the nations, then they will live in their own land, which I gave to my servant Jacob."

"They will live there safely. They will build houses and plant vineyards. Yes, they will live without fear, when I have carried out my judgments on all those around them who hated them. And they will know that I am the LORD their God."
