Ezekiel sings a lamentation for the princes of Israel, comparing the mother (Judah) to a lioness whose first cub (Jehoahaz) was taken to Egypt and whose second cub (Jehoiachin or Zedekiah) was caught and brought to Babylon. The mother is then likened to a vine transplanted into the wilderness, withered and burned.
