Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the LORD. They said, "I will sing to the LORD, for he has triumphed gloriously. The horse and its rider he has thrown into the sea."

"The LORD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will prepare him a home; he is my father's God, and I will lift him high."

"The LORD is a man of war. The LORD is his name."

"Pharaoh's chariots and his army he has thrown into the sea. His chosen captains are drowned in the Red Sea."

"The deep waters have covered them. They sank to the bottom like a stone."

"Your right hand, O LORD, has become glorious in power. Your right hand, O LORD, has broken the enemy in pieces."

"In the greatness of your majesty you threw down those who rose up against you. You sent out your anger, and it burned them up like dry straw."

"With the blast of your nostrils the waters were gathered together. The flowing waters stood upright like a heap. The deep waters became firm in the heart of the sea."

"The enemy said, 'I will chase them, I will catch them, I will divide the plunder. My desire shall be satisfied on them. I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.'"

"You blew with your wind, and the sea covered them. They sank like lead in the mighty waters."

"Who is like you, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like you, glorious in holiness, to be feared in praises, doing wonders?"

"You stretched out your right hand, and the earth swallowed them."

"In your mercy you have led out the people you have redeemed. In your strength you have guided them to your holy home."

"The peoples shall hear, and be afraid. Pain shall take hold of the people who live in Palestina."

"Then the chiefs of Edom shall be amazed. Trembling shall take hold of the mighty men of Moab. All who live in Canaan shall melt away."

"Fear and dread shall fall on them. By the greatness of your arm they shall be as still as a stone, until your people pass over, O LORD, until the people pass over whom you have bought."

"You shall bring them in and plant them on the mountain of your inheritance, in the place, O LORD, which you have made for yourself to live in, in the Sanctuary, O Lord, which your hands have established."

"The LORD shall reign for ever and ever."

For Pharaoh's horses went into the sea with his chariots and his horsemen, and the LORD brought the waters of the sea back over them. But the children of Israel walked on dry land through the middle of the sea.

Then Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand. All the women went out after her with tambourines and with dancing.

And Miriam answered them, "Sing to the LORD, for he has triumphed gloriously. The horse and its rider he has thrown into the sea."

So Moses led Israel away from the Red Sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur. They travelled three days in the wilderness and found no water.

When they came to Marah, they could not drink the water of Marah, for it was bitter. That is why the place was named Marah.

And the people complained against Moses, saying, "What shall we drink?"

So he cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a tree. He threw it into the water, and the water was made sweet. There the LORD made a rule and a law for them, and there he tested them.

He said, "If you will listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God, and do what is right in his sight, and pay attention to his commandments, and keep all his rules, I will not put on you any of the diseases that I brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you."

Then they came to Elim, where there were twelve wells of water and seventy palm trees, and they camped there by the water.
