Read 2 Samuel Chapter 9 Summary

David seeks anyone remaining from Saul's house to show kindness for Jonathan's sake; Ziba, a servant of Saul's house, identifies Mephibosheth, Jonathan's son who is lame in both feet from a fall when his nurse fled at the news of Saul and Jonathan's deaths. David summons Mephibosheth, who bows as a dead dog, and restores all Saul's land to him, commanding Ziba and his household to farm the land while Mephibosheth will always eat at the king's table. Mephibosheth lives in Jerusalem, eating at the king's table, lame in both feet.
