1 Samuel 26 - Summary

Original Summary

Read 1 Samuel Chapter 26 Summary

The Ziphites again betray David's location to Saul, who comes with three thousand chosen men. At night, David and Abishai enter Saul's camp where all sleep under the LORD's deep sleep; Abishai wants to pin Saul with his own spear, but David forbids striking the LORD's anointed—the LORD will strike him or he will die naturally. David takes Saul's spear and water jug, then from a distance shouts to Abner, shaming his failure to guard the king. Saul recognizes David's voice and again acknowledges his sin; David returns the spear, declaring as he spared Saul's life, may the LORD spare his. Saul blesses David and prophesies he will prevail; they part ways.
