1 Chronicles 20 - Summary

Original Summary

Read 1 Chronicles Chapter 20 Summary

At the turn of the year, Joab led the army to ravage Ammon and besiege Rabbah, while David remained in Jerusalem (the Chronicler omits the Bathsheba narrative recorded in 2 Samuel). David came for the final capture of Rabbah, taking the crown from Milcom's head weighing a talent of gold with precious stones, and he put the captive population to forced labor with saws, iron picks, and axes. The chapter concludes with accounts of three battles against Philistine giants at Gezer and Gath, where David's mighty men including Sibbecai, Elhanan, and Jonathan son of Shimea distinguished themselves by slaying these descendants of the Rephaim.
