Up and down arrows move from one verse to the next.

David talked with the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and with every leader.

David said to the whole assembly of Israel, "If it seems good to you, and if it is from the LORD our God, let us send word everywhere to the rest of our brothers and sisters in all the land of Israel. Let us send word also to the priests and Levites who are in their cities and pasture lands, so they may gather to us."

"And let us bring back the ark of our God to us. For we did not ask about it in the days of Saul."

The whole assembly said they would do so, because the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.

So David gathered all Israel together, from Shihor of Egypt to the entrance of Hemath, to bring the ark of God from Kirjathjearim.

David went up, and all Israel with him, to Baalah, that is, to Kirjathjearim, which belonged to Judah. They went to bring up from there the ark of God the LORD, who lives between the cherubims, and whose name is called on it.

They carried the ark of God on a new cart out of the house of Abinadab, and Uzza and Ahio drove the cart.

David and all Israel celebrated before God with all their might, with singing, and with harps, and with lutes, and with tambourines, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.

When they came to the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzza put out his hand to steady the ark, because the oxen stumbled.

The anger of the LORD burned against Uzza, and he struck him down, because he put his hand on the ark. There he died before God.

David was upset, because the LORD had broken out against Uzza. So that place is called Perezuzza to this day.

David was afraid of God that day, and he said, "How shall I bring the ark of God home to me?"

So David did not bring the ark home to himself, to the city of David, but turned aside with it into the house of Obededom the Gittite.

The ark of God stayed with the family of Obededom in his house three months. And the LORD blessed the house of Obededom, and all that he had.
