Ruth 2 - Summary

Original Summary

Read Ruth Chapter 2 Summary

Ruth seeks permission to glean in the fields to provide for Naomi, and by divine providence her lot falls upon the portion belonging to Boaz, a wealthy kinsman of Elimelech's family. Boaz, having heard of Ruth's devotion to Naomi, shows her exceptional kindness by commanding his servants to protect her, share food with her, and deliberately leave extra grain for her to gather. When Ruth returns with an ephah of barley and reports the day's events, Naomi recognizes the LORD's continuing kindness through their kinsman-redeemer and instructs Ruth to remain gleaning in Boaz's fields through both barley and wheat harvests.
